YA Highway: Whose Writing Career Would You Have?

The question over at fabulous YA Highway today is: Whose writing career would you like to emulate?

I've read a bunch of these and the general answer is "I'd like to be popular, but not J.K. Rowling."

Okay, well, I'm not afraid to admit that I would love money and fame and if I become the next Stephanie Meyer there will be nobody more happy than me. :) If I could provide for my family and tell my parents they never had to work again, any amount of dealing with the downsides of fame would be worth it.

Maybe one day.

  1. The money would be great. The fame... not so much. LOL

  2. If I made as much money as Rowling or Meyer I could pay off my student loans, my dad could retire early with the mortgage paid off, I could pay my little brother's way through university ...

    Yeah, I'd take that.

  3. I agree with Kate... JKR's money would be amazing... the fame, not so much. But some people really don't mind the fame. Others (like me, he he) are simply hermits. :D

  4. I'm in the I'd like the money but not the fame camp haha. Although I'm sure I wouldn't be grumbling too much when I was cashing my checks.

  5. Very well put, Margo. The money would be EXCELLENT! But as Abby pointed us, some of us are hermits- and I definitely am a hermit. I whine when I have to interact with people at the grocery store-but it's something that I also want to change about myself. Maybe I'll get some courage from you now :)

  6. I'm with you Margo. S. Meyer was so famous she DEIGNED to be on Oprah. Like woah. And she still has the same house in AZ and does what she wants. No big.
